Ride only roads and trails shown open to your vehicle class on the current MVUM; cross-country travel is not allowed (USFS). On roads that are also open to highway vehicles you must meet state vehicle/operator requirements. On AGFC wildlife management areas inside the Ozark NF, motor vehicles are limited to MVUM-designated routes (AGFC reg. 20.19).
Family & group notes
Road riding; no dedicated trail system or facilities
Editor note (preview only)
Mileage is DirtCompass's own sum of MVUM road segments open to ATVs (ATV-open roads fall within lat 35.45-35.90, lon -93.57 to -92.71); MVUM is the legal source, not this number. Separately-listed trail systems in the same district are not included in the road mileage. USFS posted (2026-06-01, page updated 2026-06-08) that it is reviewing a 2026-05-29 Executive Order that may affect travel management; 'at this time, there are no changes to existing road, trail or OHV designations'. Re-check before publishing. The MVUM data service still names two units, 'Bayou' and 'Buffalo'; the USFS website lists one Big Piney RD covering Conway, Johnson, Madison, Newton, Pope and Van Buren counties, and the forest's MVUM page offers a 'Big Piney MVUM'. Merging the two into one listing is a DirtCompass choice.
